Catholic Guilt

Live performance with Matt Skully
Sexyland, Amsterdam / 2023

Catholic Guilt is a two-act descent into desecration, shame, devotion, and the pleasure of ritualised self-destruction. Costumed in the iconography of purity - a Catholic schoolgirl uniform, rosary in hand - I become a delicate object. My collaborator, Matt Skully, plays the priest. And the tormentor.

In the first act, I’m tightly bound in rope, stripped open, and waterboarded beneath a white sheet. In the second, I read aloud from the Bible as Matt tears the pages from my hands, staples them to my skin, and crowns me with hypodermic thorns.

When it’s over, I’m covered in blood and scripture.

This piece plays with the fetishisation of innocence - what purity performs, what it conceals, and what happens when you peel back the veil. It’s a ritual. It’s a desecration. It’s a love letter to pain, play, and the ecstasy of being undone on purpose.
